Here's a look at what's happened and what's ahead for Park County United Methodist Ministries.
Soup Kitchen During this month's Church beyond the walls, we need volunteers to help clean the soup kitchen. This will take place starting at 8:30am on Sunday, Oct. 30. Plan to meet at the soup kitchen ready to roll up your sleeves and give a thorough cleansing!! Members and guests of Park County United Methodist Parish gathered at Holbrook UMC for worship followed by an extremely enlightening presentation by David Riggs of the non-profit organization, K9 Care Montana, Inc. located west of Livingston He was accompanied by his service dog, 'Grizzly' David shared a bit of his personal history and then explained his work in training service dogs and their placement at no cost with wounded warriors and children who experience autism. He has been engaged in this pursuit since 2009 and operates entirely on the support and donations of the public. Together, David and 'Grizzly' demonstrated some of the tasks that service dogs can perform A delicious buffet lunch was served by members of Holbrook Church following the presentation. Good morning everyone,
Enjoy the last of the warmth before we drop into some snowy/rainy and much cooler weather! Brunch, Songs, and Surprises On the fourth Sunday, at the 11:00am service, Holbrook will host David Riggs, the Founder and CEO of K9 Care Montana, Inc., a service corporation which trains and provides free of charge service dogs for veterans and autistic children. They also cover veterinarian services and dog food for the first year after delivering a service dog to a recipient. David himself is a “wounded warrior” and started K9 Care to help fellow vets. They currently have 12 new service dog projects in various stages of the training process, including 2 of which are Autism Service Dogs. They are presently constructing a new 2,250 sq. ft. training facility located between Livingston and Bozeman. David will bring his dog with him when he comes to speak. We are spreading the word and inviting anyone interested to come – it’s part of our Methodist community service program. After the program/service, we will serve brunch.
