Hello Good People of Park County United Methodist Ministries,
Winter Clothing Drive Our current mission is to collect coats and warm winter clothing for all ages: adults and children. So, if you are tired of wearing, can’t fit into, or have outgrown boots, mittens, caps, coats, scarves, snow pants—anything for winter, bring your donations in! Your donations of new and gently used (clean and in good working order) can be brought into to your local church or to the collection box at Ace Hardware by Saturday, Oct. 30th. We will hand out the winterwear to the public as our Church Beyond the Walls project on Sunday, Oct. 31st from 1-4 at the Food Resource Center (2nd and Lewis). Thank you in advance. Hello Good People!
DEVOTION This week I’ve been inspired by the Upper Room Devotion on Oct. 10th. It focused on the story of shepherd boy David stepping up to battle the giant warrior Goliath. What gave David courage in that moment? It wasn’t his physical prowess; he was just a young boy. It wasn’t his military training; he had no training. It wasn’t his weapons; he only had a sling shot. What gave him courage was his belief in his god, The Living God. He said, “Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God?... You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty!” (I Samuel 17:26, 45) We don’t confront anything on our own. We have the living God with us. WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY This Sunday, Oct. 10th and next week, Oct. 17th, worship will be at Grace at 8:00, Pine Creek at 9:30 and Holbrook at 11:00. |
