Hi Good People of Park County and beyond! I will continue to send weekly emails which will include a devotion, that week’s worship info, and other relevant announcements. As we emerge from COVID restrictions and live into a new future, our worship schedule will be changing. I will explain that in a bit, but first I want to share a scripture that was lifted up in my devotional guide this week. It is a familiar passage, the fruit of the spirit in Galatians, but from The Message. As I read this contemporary translation, the passage came alive for me in new ways. It is about what life can look like when we live by the Spirit. “But what happens when we live God’s way? He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard—things like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments, not needing to force our way in life, able to marshal and direct our energies wisely.” -Galatians 5:22-23
If you aren’t satisfied with what your life looks like on the outside, perhaps instead of engaging self-discipline and will-power, focus on connecting with the spirit of God. Allowing the spirit into our hearts and minds will blossom into beautiful fruit. And we will experience God’s gifts in abundance.
